FAQ

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a process for individuals, or couples to work towards living a more fulfilled life. Counselling is not about magical cures but rather providing a   supportive and confidential space, wherein you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, about past and present life experiences. By working together in a focused manner solutions can be found for your difficulties. You are in control of what you talk about and my role is to work at a pace that suits you and facilitate you in exploring your issues and devising strategies that best support your needs.

Is it Confidential?

The purpose of confidentiality is to provide you with safety and privacy. Information disclosed is kept strictly confidential and would only be broken if there was a perceived risk to you or another person.

What happens if I miss a session?

If you can give 48 hours notice of cancellation you will not be charged for the session. Otherwise you will be charged as it prevents another client from using this time.

What happens at my first session?

The purpose of the initial meeting is to assess whether counselling is appropriate to your needs, and to discuss the issues you seek support for.
It also gives you the opportunity to see if I am the type of person that you feel you can work with. If after the first session you decide not to continue, rest assured that I will not be offended. If you decide to continue with counselling we will agree on a contract for a specific number of sessions after which we can evaluate and review the process.
